Cobicistat is a pharmacokinetic enhancer used in combination with antiretroviral drugs to boost their effectiveness. It works by inhibiting the enzyme cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A), which is responsible for metabolizing many drugs, thereby increasing the blood levels of co-administered drugs.
