Valbenazine is a selective vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) inhibitor used to treat tardive dyskinesia, a movement disorder caused by antipsychotic medications. It works by reducing dopamine release in the brain, thereby alleviating involuntary movements. Valbenazine is metabolized in the liver and has a half-life of 15 to 22 hours.
